The 2nd International Conference on Physics at Surfaces and Interfaces (PSI2009) is jointly organized by Institute of Physics (IOP), Bhubaneswar and Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata from February 23 – 27 , 2009. The conference will be held in the beach resort of Puri on the Bay of Bengal. Puri is an international tourist spot with its long sandy beach and nearby temples listed under World Heritage sites. Some temples date back to the eighth century. The famous Sun Temple at Konark is 35 kms away from Puri. Puri is 65 kms away from Bhubaneswar, the capital of the Indian state of Orissa, Bhubaneswar is connected to Calcutta (Kolkata), Delhi, Bombay (Mumbai), Bangalore (Bengaluru) and Hyderabad by air. The five-day conference includes an excursion to the Sun Temple in (Konark). The conference will be held in Toshali Sands– a hotel with its own private beach.
This year is celebrated as “Dr. Homi Bhabha’s Birth Centenary Year 2008 – 2009”. We are organizing this conference as a part of these celebrations.
The first conference was organized in 2002 (PSI2002) at the same venue and we had a good international participation.The PDF version of Proceeding and details of PSI2002 can be found HERE.
Normally, the lectures are held in the morning and evening. Afternoons are available for informal participation in discussions, reading and recreation, as individuals desire.

Location
The meeting will take place at hotel Toshali Sands, Puri. The historic town of Puri is famous for its temple sculptures and sandy beaches. toshali sands is a four star hotel located close to the sea. It is about 8 km away from Puri train station.
A large part of the hotel has been reserved for the meeting from December 11th to December 19th (morning). The meeting actually begins on 12th and ends after the morning session on 19th. The detail of the programme will be put up at a later stage.
