he International Workshop ISM06 is the third in a series of biennial Indian Strings Meeting, the first and second of which were held at the Harish-Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad, in December 2002 and at Khajuraho, in December 2004. These meetings are jointly organized by the Indian string theory community. The objective of these meetings is to have a gathering of young researchers and experts in String Theory and related areas in an atmosphere which stimulates expression and elaboration of new ideas. The academic plan is to have a few broad review talks, in addition to seminars, followed by several focussed discussion sessions.
The emphasis of ISM06, the Workshop at Puri, to be held during 12-19 December 2006, will be on
(i) Gauge theory/String theory duality
(ii) Black Holes
(iii) Cosmology
(iv) String Compactifications
(iii) String Field Theory
(iv) D-branes in curved spaces
Financial Aid
Limited funds may become available to the organizers to help defray local expenses of some participants. In addition, the organizers may have a small grant available to cover the international travel of some participants from the developing countries only. Participants who wish to be considered for financial aid should state their requirements by filling up the “special request” box in the above form.

Location
The meeting will take place at hotel Toshali Sands, Puri. The historic town of Puri is famous for its temple sculptures and sandy beaches. toshali sands is a four star hotel located close to the sea. It is about 8 km away from Puri train station.
A large part of the hotel has been reserved for the meeting from December 11th to December 19th (morning). The meeting actually begins on 12th and ends after the morning session on 19th. The detail of the programme will be put up at a later stage.
