Research in our group focuses on understanding physical properties of biological and soft-condensed matter, using statistical mechanics and numerical simulations, e.g., molecular dynamics and monte-carlo.

Life itself is inherently dynamic - living organisms generate and utilize flows of energy and matter to sustain life. In the microscopic level, these processes operate in an inherently noisy environment. We work towards understanding emergent structures in various biological situations - e.g., in bacterial chromosomes or in growing neurons - and their relations to dynamics. We also work on non-equilibrium statistical mechanics, which is the natural language of theoretical description of biological processes.
