The DNA Replication process is a co-ordinated (or is it correlated? ) action of a large number of "polymeric objects" over long scales both in length and time (whole length of DNA, in minutes). As opposed to the biological base by base description, our philosophy is to consider minimal coarse-grained models.
Our starting point is the unzipping transition of DNA
-a phenomenon whose existence was first shown theoretically from Bhubaneswar.
Our choice: Velocity selection is one criterion to quantify
or define "co-ordination".
Still, a bother: Is there something that can be called a minimal biology?
Immensely enjoyed finding a unique solution to the vexing issue of positions
of short vowels (i-,e-,oi-,o-kar etc) in the transliteration of romanized
assamese, bengali, and oriya, especially for LaTeX.
This also led to the
development of web-based search programs that are now
functional since 2002. The fully searchable gitobitan was made
operational in 2002. Currently the repertoire, with help of a few, espeially
Sudipta Mukherji, includes many
other classics and folk songs in
bengali and oriya. How many languages can it be extended to?
