      North-Eastern Hill University

      Shillong-793022 (Meghalaya)

LOCATION

NEHU campus is situated in the picturesque setting of the beautiful small city of Shillong (25.34N, 91.56E). Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, is a hill station at a height of about 1500 metres above the mean sea level and is described as the Scotland of the East. Shillong was the capital of the erstwhile undivided Assam which comprised of the entire north-eastern part of India. The city is conveniently connected to the mainland by road via Guwahati. However, it has a small airport connecting directly by air to Kolkata.

CLIMATE

The period of August-September heralds the beginning of the end of vigorous monsoon in Shillong. An umbrella would serve as a handy companion. The average temperature during the period is about 20 degrees Celsius requiring light woolen clothing.
