Refresher Course in Physics

Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar is organising a Refresher Course in Physics for College Teachers. The course is intended for the enthusiastic teachers interested in innovative approaches in teaching and research in physics.

The programme will consist of core courses in QUANTUM MECHANICS, STATISTICAL PHYSICS, COMPUTATIONAL METHODS, CLASSICAL DYNAMICS and EXPERIMENTAL PHYSICS. In addition, there will be a set of lectures on advanced topics such as : ASTRO-PARTICLE PHYSICS, PHYSICS AT COLLIDERS and SUPERCONDUCTIVITY.

Twenty participants will be admitted to the course and will stay in the campus. In addition, some participants who can arrange their accommodation in Bhubaneswar, will also be admitted. The selected candidates will be provided TA(to and fro 2nd class train fare or bus fare by the shortest route) and local hospitality. Those interested should apply to the undersigned on plain paper, or by email, giving the following particulars.

  • Name, date of birth, affiliation and mailing address (Tel. No/Email, if any)
  • Educational Qualification, research experience and publication list, if any.
  • Accommodation in the campus required or not.
Note that this course has shorter duration compared to what is required for UGC certification.

A recommendation letter from the Head of the Department in support of the application is required. Those who had applied last year, but could not be accommodated may submit a fresh application for consideration.

The last date of receipt of application is April 30, 2008. Only those who are willing to participate for the entire duration of the course need to apply.
